Canada Life

This was my first really large project, where also I had the chance to show my newest technology, the ‘Breathing Wall’TM ( even though I had done other small projects with  breathing walls in private homes ). Upon building the installation in the board room of the Canada Life headquarters, the University of Guelph, under the guidance of Dr. M. Dixon, was asked to do the research to prove that the ecosystem, in fact, did a tremendous job of purifying the air in the room. I had met Dr. Dixon some years before, and so, on my introduction to the Canada Life people, the project was able to rise to a whole new level.

Boardroom Breathing Wall Ecosystem at Canada Life

Completed in 1994.

My ecosystem was hooked in with the HVAC, designed to handle the room, but could also be hooked in, to handle the whole floor, at a future date.

Dr. Dixon designated Alan Darlington one of his graduate students to do the on site research for the room.

A lot of publicity started around this project and architect, the university and Canada life itself were usurping ownership of the eco-technology I had already developed. I found myself being marginalized by the other big players in their attempt to grab the glory.
