History of Genetron Systems
1988 - Amelung is granted a Canadian and U.S. patent on his most successful
design.
1989 - Amelung became involved with the Institute for Space and Terrestrial
Science (I.S.T.S.) (now CRESTech)
1990 - Amelung initiates concept of a Canadian space program based on biosphere
work and introduces Dixon and the University of Guelph to I.S.T.S. (now CRESTech).
- Dixon and the University of Guelph join I.S.T.S. (now CRESTech) and proposal
is accepted by the Canadian Space Agency. A Consortium is formed and funding
received by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada.
1993 - Canada Life Assurance Company contracts with Genetron for the development
of a Breathing Wall Ecosystem.
1994 - Genetron Systems designs and builds their Breathing Wall Ecosystem at
Canada Life's Environmental Meeting Room.
1995 - The University of Guelph, under the direction of Dr. M. Dixon, begins a
research project to study the effectiveness of Genetron's Breathing Wall
Ecosystem at Canada Life.
- Amelung invites I.S.T.S. (now CRESTech) to be involved in Genetron's project
at Canada Life Assurance Company.
- The Canada Life Environmental Room research project was funded by: Canada Life
Assurance Company, the Institute for Space and Terrestrial Science (I.S.T.S.)
(now CRESTech) and the Ontario Ministries of Environment and Energy and
Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.
1996 - First published results of Guelph's study are announced. Results
demonstrated that the Breathing Wall Ecosystem removed significant amounts of
volatile organic compounds (VOC's), such as Formaldehyde, Toluene, and
Trichloroethylene, which VOC's are commonly associated with poor indoor air
quality.
- This is an effective cure for sick building syndrome. |
